When is the last time your dryer duct was cleaned?

When dryer vents aren't properly maintained, clothes will often take longer than 40 minutes to dry, resulting in increases to your electric bill or causing you to think that it may be time to spend hundreds of dollars to buy a new dryer. This is often not the solution. If your clothes are getting warm but are remaining damp at the end of a cycle, it is because the exhausting airflow is obstructed and not allowing the dryer to perform properly.
In order to retain peak efficiency and eliminate the possibility of a fire, dryer duct work should be cleaned and maintained once a year. Simply using a vacuum or a blower is not sufficient enough to properly clear the dryer vent for proper exhausting airflow. A combination of brushing the full length of the duct work while vacuuming out the dislodged lint and getting onto the roof to clean and unblock the vents exit, is the only way to ensure proper maintenance. Using a blower to clear a dryer vent will only cause more lint to pack into the vents exit.
